Johannes Weisser has quickly made a name for himself as one of the most exciting Scandinavian singers. In the spring of 2004, at the age of 23, he made his debut at the Norwegian National Opera as well as at the Komische Oper Berlin. Since then he has appeared in opera houses and at festivals such as Théâtre de La Monnaie in Brussels, Opera Bilbao, Royal Danish Opera, Opéra national du Rhin Strasbourg, Edinburgh International Festival, Innsbrucker Festwochen der alten Musik and the Salzburg Festival. He is also a much sought after concert singer with a repertoire that spans music from the early 17th Century works of Monteverdi up to 20th Century works of Weill and Britten. He regularly appears in concert venues in Vienna, Paris, Brussels, Berlin, Cologne, Madrid, Rome, London, Athens, Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen with many of Europe’s most prominent orchestras and conductors. He is an exceptionally communicative “Lied”-singer. His concerts have attracted much attention and have been highly praised, notably the concerts with the pianist Leif Ove Andsnes. He has recorded the title role in DON GIOVANNI, Telemann’s BROCKES PASSION, and Haydn’s DIE SCHÖPFUNG with René Jacobs for Harmonia Mundi, Haydn’s APPLAUSUS with Andreas Spering for Capriccio, Licaone in Handel’s GIOVE IN ARGO with Alan Curtis (to be released), and a highly acclaimed CD with songs by Grieg for Simax.
