Born in Seville, Rocío Ignacio studied piano at the “Francisco Guerrero” Conservatoire, and graduated in vocals at the Conservatoire of Córdova. She studied vocals with Maruja Troncoso, María del Valle Duque, Juan Luque e Alfonso Leoz.
After winning the competition for “Young Soloists” in Seville in 1998-1999, she started her career, performing a huge repertoire of sacred compositions by G.Fauré, J.S.Bach, G.F.Händel, W.A.Mozart, G.B.Pergolesi, J.Haydn, A.Bruckner, B.Britten, A.Vivaldi.
Her debut in an opera is in 2003, next to the baritone Carlos Álvarez, in Rigoletto
in La Coruña and Santander, which was a success with critic and to the audience. Then other important performances were L’Elisir d’Amore
in Málaga, Córdoba and at the Opera Festival in Benicassim; Werther
in Jesi; Doña Francisquita
at the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires, in Santander, in Malaga, Gijón and Minorca, and Il Viaggio a Reims
Recently she has played the part of Pamina in Die Zauberflöte
in Murcia, of Gilda in Rigoletto
in Jaén and in Palma de Mallorca, of Nannetta in Falstaff
in Tenerife, of Adina in L’Elisir d’Amore
in Valencia, with Ramón Vargas and Erwin Schrott.
She performed in many concerts throughout Europe: in particular, the operas at the Palau de Les Arts (2007 and 2008) and the Palau de la Música of Valencia (2008), and in Bologna (2011), under the guidance of John Neschling.
