Stefania Bonfadelli is a lyric color soprano whose repertoire spans from the Belcanto operas by V. Bellini, G. Donizetti and G. Rossini, such as La Sonnambula, Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Pasquale, L’elisir d’amore, Il turco in Italia, Il viaggio a Reims, to French operas (Massenet’s Manon, Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Poulenc’s Les dialogues des Carmélites, Les contes d’Hoffmann), and to the Verdian roles Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La traviata), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Nannetta (Falstaff), Amalia (I Masnadieri).
She has also enjoyed success on the concert stage, having performed Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Donizetti’s Requiem in memoria di Bellini, Mozart’s Requiem, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rossini’s Stabat Mater and Poulenc’s Gloria.
After her international debut with I Puritani at the Wiener Staatsoper in 1997, her extensive career has brought her to perform in such theatrical institutions as the Hamburgische Staatsoper, the Oper Frankfurt, the Opéra de Marseille, the Concertgebouw and the Nederlanse Opera in Amsterdam, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Detroit Michigan Opera Theatre, the Teatro alla Scala, the Teatro Regio di Torino, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the Teatro Verdi di Trieste, the Royal Opera House-Covent Garden in London, the Bayerische Staatsoper, Teatro de la Maestranza in Siviglia .
Stefania Bonfadelli enjoys a continuous collaboration with the Wiener Staatsoper, where she sang in such operas as Guglielmo Tell, Lucia di Lammermoor, La traviata, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Sonnambula, Roméo et Juliette, Rigoletto, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Così fan tutte, I Puritani.
She has recently portrayed with success the roles of Violetta at Covent Garden in London, at the Teatro Verdi di Busseto (staged by Zeffirelli and led by Domingo), at the Opernhaus in Zurich, at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, at Japan Opera Foundation in Tokyo and at the Finnish National Opera of Helsinki; of Amina in La Sonnambula at the Teatro alla Scala; Elvira in I Puritani at the Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania and in Liège; Lucia at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, in Avignon and Genoa; made her debuts in the role of Despina in Così fan tutte in Tokyo (under the baton of
Osawa) and at the Rossini Opera Festival as Lisetta in La Gazzetta. She just returned to the ROF of Pesaro for singing in the role of Adèle in Le Comte d’Ory, under the baton of Lopez Cobos.

In 2001 sings in the Opera La Sonnambula by V. Bellini at Teatro alla Scala of Milan, and sings in the Opera Così Fan Tutte by W. A. Mozart at New National Theatre of Tokyo.
In 2002 she was Violetta in La Traviata by G. Verdi at Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile, at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Zurich Opera House and at Teatro of Busseto, conducted by Placido Domingo and directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
In the same year was Lucia in the Opera Lucia di Lammermoor by G. Donizetti at Deutsche Oper of Berlin and at Theatre of Avignon, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini and Gilda in Il Rigoletto by G. Verdi at Opera of Baltimore.

In 2009 she sang the role of Sofia in Il Signor Bruschino by G. Rossini at Festival in Wildbad.
In 2010 she sang in La Sonnambula at the Gran Galà in Wien, Irun (Spain) and has been on tour in Italy for the recital in memory of Rossini.
In 2011 she sang the role of Daria in Le Convenienze ed Inconvenienze Teatrali by G. Donizetti at Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania.
