Born in Istanbul, in 1981, Buyukedes started her undergraduate studies at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatoire, attending Ece Idil’s opera class. She attended the mastercourses of Mauro Trombetta, the artistic director of The Rome Opera Theatre. She won the honourable mention from the jury of 2004 Siemens Opera Competition, and was one of the seven finalists, among 162, in the 2006 Leyla Gencer Voice Competition. After this success, she has performed in many cities of Turkey with various orchestras, under the bâton of conductor Gurer Aykal and she won the second prize in the national lied competition prouced and sponsored by Sedat-Guzin Gurel’s Art Foundation. In 2007, she passed the entrance exam of La Scala, and won a two-year programme. There she worked with teachers like Mirella Freni, Luciana Serra, Renato Bruson, Marco Gadrini, Michael Hamphe, as well as Leyla Gencer. On december of 2007, she was chosen as the 4th cast to Fiodiligi in "Cosi Fan Tutte", staged at La Scala. Her repertoire includes Pamina in "Die Zauberflöte", La Contessa and Marcellina in "Le Nozze di Figaro", Micaëla in "Carmen", Mimi in "La Bohème" and Fr. Fluth in "Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor".
At “La Scala” Theatre in Milan she was Fiordiligi (cover) in the Mozart’s “Così fan tutte” conducted by Ottavio Dantone and directed by Michael Hampe in 2007. She was also “La Contessa” and “Marcellina” in “Le nozze di Figaro” conducted by Giovanni Antonini and directed by G. Strehler in 2008. Recently she performed the role of “Prima Donna” in the G. Donizetti’s “Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali “ conducted by Marco Guidarini and directed by Antonio Albanese at “La Scala” Theatre and ,suddenly, at the Aalborg Theatre of Denmark in 2009. She sang in a concert for the “G. Verdi” Festival on October 2009 at the “Teatro Regio” of Parma.
