Marco Filippo Romano was born in Caltanissetta (Italy) in 1982. He studied horn at the Conservatory «V. Bellini» in Palermo and privately voice with the soprano Elisabeth Lombardini Smith. He attended master classes with Romolo Guglielmo Gazzani and Renato Bruson.
In 2006 he won the contest « G. Pacini» in Pescara (Italy) and debuted the role of Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by G. Rossini. Further he won the contest «Young Sicilian Singers» in Palermo and the international contest «Franco Alfano». In 2007 he won the contest «Premio Riccitelli Città di Pescara», the contest «Salvatore Cieco» in Palermo and the second prize at the international contest «Voci del Mediterraneo» in Siracusa (Italy).
His recent engagements include Dulcamara in L'Elisir d'Amore at Teatro La Valletta in Malta and at the Taormina Festival; La Serva Padrona and Il Maestro di Cappella in Enna (Italy); Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Lucca, Pescara (Italy) and in Malta; Don Gregorio in Tutti in Maschera in Savona, Piacenza (Italy) and at the Wexford Festival (Ireland); Presto in Les Mamelles de Thirésias by F. Poulenc in Sassari; Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola in Como and Lecco; Don Profondo in Il Viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and at Teatro Municipale Piacenza; Dancairo in Carmen in Novara; Taddeo in L'Italiana in Algeri in Piacenza; Vertigo in Pepito by J. Offenbach in Novara and Don Alfonso in Cosi fan Tutte at the Cuvillier Theatre in Munich (production Staatsoper Munich) and Dulcamara in L’Elisir d’amore at the Festival «Luglio Musicale Trapanese»
His concert repertoire includes: Lieder biblici by A. Dvorak version for organ and soloist by M° M. Helfer, Stabat Mater by A. P. Leopardi and the role of Jesus in Oratorio Emmaus by M° A. P. Leonardi.
Among his future engagements Don Bartolo in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Rovigo and Bergamo, Taddeo in L'Italiana in Algeri at the Teatro Comunale in Florence, Giacomo in Fra Diavolo in Savona and Rovigo (Italy) and Dulcamara in L'Elisir d'amore and Marcello in La Boheme at the Wexford Festival.
