Born in Rome, where she is currently living and working, Silvia Aymonino has started her career at a very young age, collaborating for ten years with Sartoria Tirelli, where she has started working on sartorial material: then she has received more and more important tasks, up to be put side by side with the director Giorgio d’Alberti – from 1985 to 1993 – for the creation of costumes for the greatest Italian and international costume designers, such as Gabriella Pescucci, Maurizio Millenotti, Piero Tosi, Pier Luigi Pizzi, Franca Squarciapino, Vera Marzot, Carlo Diappi, Paul Brown.
During those same years she has set up several exhibitions which were promoted by the tailor shop, such as “Vestire i Sogni” in Mantua and Lisbon, “La Direzione Tirelli” at Palazzo Pitti in Florence, and “L’uomo elegante per Pitti Uomo” and “Emilio Pucci” on the occasion of Florence fashion week.
She made her debut as costume designer in 1996, at the Opera in Rome for Turandot by Puccini set design, directed by Stefano Monti and set design created by Edoardo Sanchi. She has collaborated with many famous artists, such as Franco Ripa di Meana, Marco Gandini and Damiano Michieletto for the opera, Andrea Liberovici and Luca Ronconi for prose work.
She has created the costumes for an experimental TV project for mobile phones, in the fiction “Room4u – L’Ospite Perfetto” and for the TV series “Al di là del lago” with Fidia Film.
She has been Wardrobe Supervisor in several cinema and TV productions.
She has been costume designer assistant for Hugo de Ana for more than ten years, and also for other cinema and theatre costume designers, such as Giovanna Buzzi, Piero Tosi, Maurizio Millenotti and Alessandro Lai.
In 2009 she designed the costumes for Romeo e Giulietta ballet by Prokofiev at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo, and for Tosca by Puccini at the Opera in Rome, Rigoletto, La Traviata and Il Trovatore by Verdi at the Teatro Comunale in Florence, L’Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti in Tokyo and in Beijing.
In the same year she designed the costumes for Il Mondo alla rovescia by Salieri, on stage at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and the Teatro Salieri in Legnago.
As for this year, she has collaborated with Francesco Micheli for La Bohème by Puccini at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
