Born in Rome, Cristina Piperno received her diploma in piano while she was studying organ and composition. She graduated with honours in singing at the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome with Jolanda Magnoni. She is at present studying with Maestro R. Savastano.
She won the competition “Città di Roma” and “Primo Palcoscenico”. She made her debut with Nedda in I Pagliacci
and then Madame Butterfly
. She sang under the guidance of M. Benini at Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova and P.G Morandi at the Maggio Musicale in Florence.
From 2003, her liric voice bloomed and she approached roles such as Turandot
in the Theatres Como, Brescia, Pavia under the baton of M. De Bernard and then at the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari (conductor K. Martin, production A. Serban).
She was also engaged for the role of Maddalena in Andrea Chenièr
and in 2005 she sang the role of Manon Lescaut
by Puccini at Lucca, Bolzano, Ravenna and Livorno.
In 2006 she was Lady Macbeth at the Teatro Verdi in Salerno, in France at the Grand Theatre di St.Etienne and Turandot at the Stadttheater of Giessen in Germany. She was invited for the opening of the new "Narni Opera Festival" with Aida
In September 2006 she sang again the Princess Turandot in a tournée of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Japan conducted by Zubin Metha.
In 2007 she sang Manon Lescaut
at the Teatro dell'Opera (conductor D. Renzetti) and opened the season of the Palm Beach Opera with Turandot
with great acclaim. In February this year in St.Etienne a new debut in the title role of Gioconda
In June 2008 she will sing Turandot
at the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, production by Denis Krief, conductor P.Steinberg.
