Géraldine Chauvet has got a Degree in "Musicologie" at the University of Tours, in France and she also studied Flute and Piano. She made advanced studies with two of the greatest mezzosoprano of our Century, Grace Bumbry and Brigitte Fassbaender, for the german Repertoire.
At the beginning of her career she appears in Norma (Adalgisa) at Teatro Comunale of Bologna (2008); in Petite Messe Solemnelle with Fondazione Arturo Toscanini of Parma (2008); in Norma (Adalgisa) at Teatro of Palma de Mallorca (2008); in Don Giovanni by Pacini (D.Anna) at Wildbad Rossini Festival; in Carmen (Carmen) at Teatro Luciano Pavarotti of Modena-Piacenza & Ravenna (2008/2009); in Werther (Charlotte) at Teatro Cilea of Reggio Calabria (2009); in Don Giovanni (Donna Elvira) at Arena of Avenches-Swisse-Open Air-Stage (2009)
In 2009 she makes her debut at the Arena di Verona, performing Carmen in the leading role, conducted by Placido Domingo and staged by Franco Zeffirelli.
In 2010 she makes her Japanese debut, performing in the "Tokio Domingo Gala 2010" singing Carmen beside Placido Domingo, in tour with Orchestra and Choir of Arena di Verona, released on DVD.
In 2010 she's back to the Arena di Verona performing again as Carmen.
In 2011 she makes her debut in the leading role in Samson et Dalila in Seoul, beside Josè Cura. In the same year she also sings in the title role of Carmen at Teatro San Carlo of Napoli, conducted by Alaing Guingal, staged by Mischa van Hoecke.
At the beginning of 2012 she makes her debut in USA, singing the "pants role" of Adriano in Rienzi at the Lincoln Center of New York, obtaining a great success. "The New York Times" wrote: "she got a deserved and enormous ovation at the end of the gorgeous Aria Gerechter Gott" !
Just a few months later, in December 2012 she makes her debut at the Metropolitan Opera of New York as Sesto in La Clemenza di Tito getting a gorgeous success. The best american Reviews write : "A Star is born at the MET of NY".
She sings in the role of Mère Marie in the Dialogues of Carmelites in France at the Opéra de Massy and in Romeo et Juliette by Berlioz at the Netherland Television Simphony Orchestra.
At the Washington National Opera she is Fenena in a new Production of Nabucco, under the baton of Philip Auguin.
In summer 2012 she performs Don Giovanni at the Arena di Verona in the role of Zerlina, under the baton of Daniel Oren, staged by Franco Zeffirelli. In July 2012, she performs in a brand new production of Norma at the Taormina Opera Festival as Adalgisa, beside Daniela Dessì and Gregory Kunde, conducted by Giuliano Carella.
In 2013 she sings in the Dialogues des Carmelites (Mere Marie) at the Opéra de Bordeaux; she performs Kotelnicka in Jenufa by Janáček at the Opéra d’Avignon; she sings in Requiem by Verdi with San Antonio Symphony Orchestra in Texas, conducted by Sebastian Lang-Lessing.
In december 2013 she will return to the Metropolitan of New York to perform Der Rosenkavalier by Strauss in the role of Oktavian.
She will return to Arena for the Centennial Festival 1913 singing Fenena in Nabucco by Verdi.
