Conductor Antonio Pirolli is in command of a broad repertoire with a particular emphasis on 19th century French and Italian works, frequently including Puccini and symphonic music.
He recently conducted performances of Tosca in Florence, Turandot in Verona, as well as a concert dedicated to operatic repertoire at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples.
Born in Rome, Pirolli is a frequent guest at the most prestigious theaters in Italy and abroad including the New National Theater in Tokyo, San Carlo in Lisbon, Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires and Wiesbaden. In Italy he has appeared on the podium at La Scala di Milano, Rome Opera, Genoa’s Carlo Felice, Maggio Musical Florence and Catania’s Teatro Bellini.
A few highlights of the past season include performances of La Gioconda at the Santander Festival in Spain, a Japan tour with the Rome Opera, and his Deutsche Oper Berlin debut with Andrea Chenier, Macbeth in Lisbon, Nabucco and Aida at the Caracalla in Rome, and Il trovatore in Catania. Engagements for 2009-2010 included Aroldo in Bilbao, Ernani in Catania, Un ballo in maschera in Salerno, he will furthermore conduct Medea for several theaters in Lombardia.
