
Maxim Belotserkovsky was born in Kiev in the Ukraine and studied in the school of dance in his native city. From 1990 to 1991 he was the lead dancer of the National Opera in Bulgaria and from 1991 to 1994 he was a soloist with the National Opera of Ukraine and with this company he toured Japan, Canada, Mexico, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Romania, India and Egypt. Before joining the American Ballet, he performed in the role of the Prince in
Cinderella, Albrecht in
Giselle, Farkhad in
The Legend of love, the Prince in
The Nutcracker, Prince Désiré and the Bluebird in
Sleeping beauty and Prince Siegfried in
Swan lake. He also danced in
La Bayadère,
Le Corsaire,
Don Quixote and
La Sylphide. In 1995 he was promoted to solo dancer and in 2000 to principal dancer of the American Ballet.
During the last number of years Maxim Belotserkovsky has expanded his repertoire and interpreted the Prince and the Dance Master in
Cinderella, Franz in
Coppelia, Conrad and Lankendem in
Le Corsaire and Basilio and Espada in
Don Quixote. He has also performed in
Giselle,
Jardin aux lilas,
The Merry widow,
Sleeping beauty,
The Snow maiden,
Swan lake and
La Sylphyde and has interpreted principal roles in
Bruch Violin Concerto no.1,
Diversion of angels,
Etudes,
Sinfonietta,
Spring and fall,
Anastasia,
Ballet imperial,
The Leaves are fading and
Push comes to shove.
Future engagements include
Giselle in the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona in April/May 2003.
