Soimita Lupu received her diploma from the National Academy of Dance in Bucharest in 1986. In the same year she began her dancing career with the Corps de Ballet of the National Opera of Bucharest where, in 1988, after having interpreted the principal role in Giselle, she was offered the position of lead dancer. Since then she has carried out the major roles of the classic and neo-classic repertoires: Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Don Chisciotte, Coppelia, Le Corsaire, Paquita, La Fille mal gardée, Esmeralda, Pas Classique, Romeo and Juliet, Tristan und Isolde, Peer Gÿnt, The Four Seasons, The Taming of the Shrew, Sinfonia fantastica, Sinfonia classica.
From 1992 to 1995 she collaborated as guest lead dancer with different international companies in Europe, Canada and the USA.
In 1995 she joined the company of the Teatro Massimo in Palermo expanding her repertoire with the interpretation of principal roles in choreographies by Roland Petit, Agnes DeMille, Derek Dean, Lorca Massine, Christof Pastor, Gerlinde Dill, Micha van Hoecke, contemporaneously participating in international galas.
