Carlo Lepore was born in Naples but lived in Rome. He began studying voice with Alessandra Gonzaga and he received his degree in law. He won various competitions among which the "Pergolesi" in Rome and the "Belli" in Spoleto, he made his debut in Spoleto as Marchese di Forlimpopoli in Locandiera by Salieri. Subsequently he performed in L'Elisir d'amore as Dulcamara, in the Prodigal Son by Britten in the role of the father and in Il ballo delle ingrate by Monteverdi as Plutone.
His repertoire ranges from Scarlatti (La Dirindina), Martini (L'impresario delle Canarie), Cimarosa (Il Matrimonio segreto, Le Astuzie femminili), Mozart (Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni), Tritto (Il Convitato di pietra), to Donizetti (Don Pasquale, Le Convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, Il Furioso all'isola di Santo Domingo), Rossini (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola, L'Italiana in Algeri, La Cambiale di matrimonio), Puccini (La Bohème and Madama Butterfly), Respighi (La Fiamma) and Giuranna (Mayerling). He has sung in the most important Italian theatres: Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Vittorio Emanuele in Messina, Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, the Arena di Verona, under the guidance of important Conductors such as Peter Maag, Piero Bellugi, Gustav Kuhn and Lu Jia.
Mr. Lepore is also well-known for his repertoire which is typically baroque, interpreting L'Orfeo by Monteverdi and by Sartorio, Euridice by Peri, Acis and Galatea by Händel, La Senna festeggiante by Vivaldi, Aretusa by Vitali, Il Sansone by Ferrari, Gli amori di Apollo e Dafne by De'Cavalieri.
Carlo Lepore has also given concerts in Italy and abroad at musical institutions among which the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, the Macerata Opera Festival, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Innsbruck Festival and the Ravenna Festival. For the occasion of the Autumn Musical of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples he performed in Divertimento dei Numi by Paisiello conducted by Scimone and at the Terme di Caracalla in the Chichester Psalms by Bernstein conducted by Daniel Oren.
He has also performed the cycle of Lieder Winterreise by Schubert in Rome, Spoleto and Todi, the Lieder by Wagner at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna and Un canzoniere italiano by Wolf-Ferrari at the Wexford Opera Festival.
Shortly, he will sing in L'Italiana in Algeri at the Teatro alla Scala, in Cenerentola at the Opera in Marseilles and in Rinaldo by Händel at the Politeama Greco in Lecce.
