Nicoletta Curiel received her diploma in the 'cello from the Conservatory in Trieste under the guidance of Libero Lana. Her debut as a singer took place at the Piccola Scala in Milan in Farnace
From that point on she has performed in the most important Italian theatres. In 1989 Riccardo Muti invited her to different productions in Teatro alla Scala in Milan. She also made her debut in the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in I Capuleti e i Montecchi
(Romeo) by Bellini while on tour in Russia with the Teatro alla Scala. Her artistic career led to her collaboration with conductors such as: Abbado, Bartoletti, Bychkov, Chung, Fedoseev, Gavazzeni, Mehta, Muti and Oren.
As well as returning to the Teatro alla Scala to perform in Lo frate' nnamorato
by Pergolesi, conducted by Riccardo Muti which was a great success, she sang in Hansel und Gretel
at the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, where she also played the part of Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro
In Prague, for the occasion of the Mozart Festival, she interpreted the role of Annio in La Clemenza di Tito
, performed again later in Teatro alla Scala.
The mezzo-soprano has made recordings for the most important record labels (Sony, Decca, Philips, etc.) including Il Viaggio a Reims
by Rossini conducted by Maestro Abbado leading the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Nicoletta Curiel has also given numerous concerts, carrying out recitals with the pianist Bruno Canino. Among the most important are the Te Deum
by Brukckner and the Messa dell'Incoronazione
by Mozart at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia. She participated in the inauguration of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence in Moses und Aaron
by Schonberg conducted by Zubin Mehta and Beethoven's Ninth symphony
with Maestro Bychkov.
Recently, she successfully interpreted Adalgisa in Norma
by Bellini in France and Gertrude Stein in the opera The Banquet
by Marcello Panni in Genoa, Florence and Rome. Shortly she will be in Israel for new productions of Le Nozze di Figaro
, conducted by Zubin Mehta and Rigoletto, conducted by Daniel Oren. Her numerous engagements in the future include the role of Fenena in Nabucco
at the Teatro Comunale in Trieste and at the Arena di Verona conducted by Daniel Oren.
