A native of the Canary Islands, Nancy Fabiola Herrera is one of the most sought-after mezzosopranos in the world today. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, and the Royal Conservatory in Madrid and lives in New York: in the Metropolitan Opera of this city young Spanish singer achieved great success in 2005 with Carmen in a production by Franco Zeffirelli.
Acclaimed as much for her versatility as for her artistry, she is the recipient of the “Best Zarzuela Singer of 2007” Award by the Fundación Premios Líricos Teatro Campoamor, for her performance in Ruperto Chapí’s La Bruja.
In the summer of 2009 she will make her debut in the Arena of Verona with Carmen, with the musical direction of Plácido Domingo. She will also sing the role of the Andalusian gypsy at the gala concert to celebrate the debut of Domingo in the Italian arena. ù
