Paola Fornasari Patti began her music studies at the Conservatoire "F. E. Dall'Abaco" of Verona. She studied violin for 5 years and she also took part, as auditor, in a singing class. She then attended the same class herself and graduated in 1983 under the guidance of Rina Malatrasi.
She made her debut in Spoleto in 1985 as Orfeo in the opera Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck. She has often performed at Teatro Comunale of Florence, San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro Filarmonico and the Fondazione Arena di Verona. Among her most important roles were Roggero in the opera Tancredi at Teatro Massimo of Palermo and in Las Palmas and Ramiro in La Finta giardiniera by Mozart at the Festival of Fermo. Also important was her part as the mother in the opera Pollicino by Henze. She has a constantly-expanding repertoire which ranges from baroque to modern music. She has a special talent for "en travesti" parts and for all mezzo-soprano roles, with a particular liking for the works of Bellini, Mozart, the romantics and the late romantics. Her repertoire also includes sacred music, oratorios and masses, such as La Petite messe solennelle by Rossini, Gloria by Vivaldi, Johannes passion by Bach.
At the Arena di Verona she sang in Aida in the role of High Priestess and in Nabucco in the role of Fenena, while at the Teatro Filarmonico she played the role of Beppe in L'Amico Fritz by Mascagni.
In the 2006 summer opera festival in the Arena she will perform the role of Lucia in Cavalleria rusticana.
