Many times he performed DON PASQUALE, as both the title role (Teatro alla Scala, dir. R. Muti) and Malatesta, and L’ELISIR D’AMORE (Dulcamara and Belcore) with broad approval.
His exceptional skill as interpreter of comic and buffo roles is accompanied by full achievement in serious and half-serious roles: Varbel in LODOÏSKA by Cherubini (Teatro alla Scala, dir. R. Muti, 1996), Kyoto in IRIS by Mascagni, Lescaut in MANON LESCAUT by Puccini, Marcello in LA BOHÈME, L’AMOUR DES TROIS ORANGES by Prokofiev (re-opening of Teatro Malibran in Venice), Falstaff as both the title role and Ford, Michonnet in ADRIANA LECOUVREUR by Cilea.
