Giancarlo Pasquetto made his debut in 1985 as the Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore. The following year, he won the Competition "Voci Verdiane" (voices for Verdi's operas) in Bussetto, and sang in Luisa Miller alongside Carlo Bergonzi who, in 1987, was beside him once again in La Forza del Destino. After his debut at the Teatro Regio in Parma in Cavalleria Rusticana, he sang in Strasbourg in the role of Tonio in I Pagliacci, Germont in La Traviata in Toulon and Marcello in La Bohème at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona alongside Luciano Pavarotti.

In 1988 he made his debut in the Metropolitan in New York in the opera Luisa Miller, he sang in Il Trovatore in New Jersey, Un Ballo in Maschera in Rennes and Tours in France, La Forza del Destino at the Teatro Comunale in Modena, Piacenza and Ferrara and La Bohème at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca.

The 1989/1990 season began with an appearance at the Arena di Verona, where, for five consecutive years, he interpreted parts in La Forza del Destino, Aida, Nabucco, Don Carlo and La Traviata. Then he performed in La Bohème in Frankfurt and Toulon and in Aida at the Teatro Sferisterio in Macerata. He made his debut in Don Carlo at the Teatro Regio in Turin and in Las Palmas. He sang in I Pagliacci at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona and in the part of Paolo Albiani in Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari alongside Leo Nucci. He also performed in the opera Alzira to inaugurate the Verdi Festival. He returned to the Teatro Sferisterio in Macerata to sing in Il Trovatore, and then went on to sing in Teatro Regio in Parma to make his debut in Werther and Alzira.

In 1991 he made his debut at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in four symphonic lyrical concerts, in the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo in the opera Madama Butterfly and in the Teatro Grande in Brescia and returned to the Teatro Regio in Parma for a production of Luisa Miller.

In 1992 Giancarlo Pasquetto sang in Il Trovatore in Verona and made his debut as Simon in Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova. Under the baton of Zubin Mehta he sang in Aida with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. At the Teatro Comunale in Treviso he sang in La Bohème and in the Teatro Comunale in Bologna in Luisa Miller.

In 1993 he made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala as Tonio in I Pagliacci which was conducted by Riccardo Muti and he also made his debut in the role of Rigoletto conducted by Daniele Gatti at the Staatsoper in Berlin. Following this was his performance in Nabucco at the Festival in Bregenz and his debut in I Puritani at the Teatro Bellini in Catania and Aida at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome.

During 1994 he was greatly praised for his performance in Rigoletto at Covent Garden in London. Following this he made his debut in Lucia di Lammermoor and La Traviata at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome, in Tosca in Reggio Emilia, in La Bohème at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, a concert in Karlstadt, Un Ballo in Maschera in Treviso and Simon Boccanegra in Florence.

In 1995 he sang in Nabucco at the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Regio in Turin, Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and Rigoletto in Montpellier. Following this he performed in Aida with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta, Tosca at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, Il Trovatore and La Traviata in Hamburg.

In 1996 he interpreted Nabucco for the second time with the New Israeli Opera, he made his debut at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in La Bohème and returned to the Teatro San Carlo in Naples with Madama Butterfly. Subsequently he made his debut in Andrea Chenier at the Teatro dell'Opera in Rome and his debut in Macbeth at the Teatro Comunale in Treviso. Then he was in Barcelona for a production of Aida, in Tenerife for Andrea Chenier and Madama Butterfly and in Trieste for Rigoletto. His debut at the Staatsoper in Vienna in Andrea Chenier alongside Luciano Pavarotti was very important.

In 1997 he returned to Teatro Bellini in Catania for the debut of Iris, to the Teatro Massimo in Palermo for the debut of Falstaff (Ford) and following this he sang in Madama Butterfly in Cagliari and Nabucco in Turin. In 1998 he sang in Nabucco in Bilbao, La Traviata at the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv and Simon Boccanegra at the Festival di Glyndebourne.

In 1999 Giancarlo Pasquetto made his debut at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich in I Pagliacci and Aida. He sang in Tosca in Messina and Nabucco in Saarbrucken. His debut in South America followed at the Teatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro in Nabucco. He returned to Busseto to sing in Luisa Miller.

In 2000 the baritone sang once again in Luisa Miller at the Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna, returned to Saarbrucken to perform in Nabucco and also made his debut in Iceland with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra in Aida. He appeared again in the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich in Tosca, at the Teatro Bellini in Catania in Macbeth and in the Arena di Verona in Aida. Following this was a performance he gave in Simon Boccanegra, again in Munich, and his debut in Japan in a concert in Tokyo.

Giancarlo Pasquetto sang in Rigoletto in 2001 at the New National Theater in Tokyo and Simon Boccanegra at the Teatro Bellini in Catania. He returned to Brazil to sing in Il Trovatore in Sao Paolo. He then performed in Rigoletto in Fermo.

In October 2002 he will be in Il Tabarro in Budapest and in 2003 in Simon Boccanegra in Naples and in Tel Aviv.
