Carlo Ventre made his operatic debut in 1994 as ‘Duca di Manova’ in Rigoletto at La Scala di Milano under the baton of Riccardo Muti. Born in Montevideo, the artist was the winner of the Gino Bechi Prize at the Francisco Viñas Competition and of the Pavarotti International Voice Competition.
Carlo Ventre is considered one of the leading lyrico spinto tenors of the last decade with stunning successes in the most prestigious theaters in Europe, Japan and the United States.
He’s a frequent guest at the Verona Arena performing Tosca, Aida, Madama Butterfly, Carmen and Turandot.
In 2011 he made his debut at the Royal Opera House in London and at the Staatsoper in Monaco with Aida, at the Opéra Bastille in Paris with Tosca. At the end of 2011 and at the beginning of 2012 he made his debut in the title role of Verdi’s Otello, in Frankfurt, as Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, in Hamburg, and as Maurizio in Adriana Lecouvreur, in Barcelona.
In 2012 he won the first award "Radames" given by Verona Opera Association for the interpretation of the role at the Arena di Verona.
After the successes of Manon Lescaut in Hamburg, of Aida in Tokyo and Fanciulla del West in Frankfurt, in 2013 he comes back to the Arena di Verona as Manrico in Il Trovatore, as Radames in Aida and for the prestigious Verdi Gala.
In the second half of 2013 Ventre will perform some concerts dedicated to Verdi’s genius in Barcelona and Verdi's Otello in Bordeaux. In 2014 he will be in Berlin for Carmen, in San Diego for Pagliacci, in Frankfurt for Otello, in Bari for Il tabarro. In 2015, he will be again in Hamburg taking part in Fanciulla del West and in 2016 he will perform Andrea Chenier in Tokyo and Il Trovatore in Berlin.
