Amaya Ugarteche was born in Bilbao, Spain and completed her studies at the Dance Studio of the city, with Rafael Martì and Angeles Sautiño.
In 1987 she joined the Joven Ballet Bilbao, which, in 1989, became Ballet de Euskadi (Spain), where she interpreted The Nutcracker

In 1998/1999 she collaborated with the Balletto del Sud directed by Fredy Franzutti, in her dance routines among which, Romeo and Juliet
